Welcome

A warm welcome to all members of the Biomaterials Association of South Africa – BioMatASA. It is a pleasure to announce that BioMatASA is making significant strides in that the current membership database stands at approximately 100 members comprising researchers from various academic institutes, science councils and industry and more importantly continues to grow. After an initial flurry of excitement around the speed symposium, we’re now in the sturdy part of the ‘association formation cycle’ where there’s a bit of a dip in activity – it’s going to take a big effort from us all to keep the momentum up!

As decided at the 1st executive committee meeting held on the 20th October 2006, it is not enough that our association is alive and well – it must be seen to be alive and well!. So the launce of this website provides a good way to keep in touch with our members and to maintain the momentum we currently enjoy. This website will no doubt grow into a useful and keenly awaited resource over the next few years as our association takes shape. Apart from discussing news and upcoming events, it’s also hoped that future posts on the website will include access to numerous research-based resources as well as short profiles of/interviews with significant figures in the biomaterials industry in South Africa and abroad.
