1st Biomaterials-Africa 2009 conference
20-22 September 2009, International Convention Centre, Pretoria, South Africa

The Biomaterials Association of South Africa (BioMatASA) is hosting the 1st Biomaterials-Africa 2009 conference to be held from 20-22 September 2009 at the CSIR International Convention Centre, Pretoria, South Africa. This will be the 1st of its kind conference in the country promising to bring together both national and international experts in the Biomaterials field.

The aim of the Biomaterials-Africa 2009 conference is to advance Biomaterials science, research, and development in South Africa and the rest of Africa. The conference will showcase the current research activities in Africa to foster and develop national and international multi-disciplinary collaborations and networks. Core to the conference will be promotion of innovative biomaterials research in the region leading to cost-effective and affordable products which could contribute to economic growth in Africa's biotechnology industry. Another major aspect of the conference is to stimulate interest amongst young researchers in the field of biomaterials, and to contribute towards skills and human capital development.

Both national and international plenary and keynote speakers have been identified and they will be brought in to share in their expertise with the national and regional biomaterials community.
