The 2nd Biomaterials-Africa 2011 Conference will be incorporated into the 11th International Conference of Frontiers of Polymers and Advanced Materials (ICFPAM) to be held at the University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa, on 23-27 May 2011.

The aim of the Biomaterials-Africa 2011 conference is to advance Biomaterials science, research, and development in South Africa and the rest of Africa. The conference will showcase the current research activities in Africa to foster and develop national and international multi-disciplinary collaborations and networks. Core to the conference will be promotion of innovative biomaterials research in the region leading to cost-effective and affordable products which could contribute to economic growth in Africa's biotechnology industry. Another major aspect of the conference is to stimulate interest amongst young researchers in the field of biomaterials, and to contribute towards skills and human capital development.

Both national and international plenary and keynote speakers have been identified and they will be brought in to share in their expertise with the national and regional biomaterials community.
